Ajrakh Handblocked Wrap Around Skirts

To ensure that your Ajrakh cotton handblock skirts remain vibrant and beautiful for a long time, it's essential to follow these care instructions.

It’s normal for vegetable dye colours to bleed in first few washes, therefore, we highly recommend washing these separately.

Hand Washing Method:

Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
Add a small amount of mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.
Submerge the skirt in the water and gently swish it around to distribute the detergent.
Let the skirt soak for about 15-20 minutes.
Gently rub any stained or soiled areas with your fingers, taking care not to scrub too hard.
Rinse the skirt thoroughly with cold water until all soap residue is removed.
Press the excess water out of the fabric by gently squeezing it. Avoid wringing, as this can distort the shape of the skirt.

Machine Washing (if necessary):

For machine washing, use a gentle cycle with cold water.
Turn the skirt inside out before placing it in the machine to protect the handblock print.
Use a mild detergent designed for delicate fabrics.
Avoid mixing the skirt with heavy items that could cause abrasion or tangling.
After washing, promptly remove the skirt from the machine to prevent wrinkles.

Drying:

To air dry, lay the skirt flat on a clean towel or drying rack.
Avoid hanging the skirt, as this can cause stretching and distortion of the fabric.
If drying outdoors, place the skirt in the shade to prevent direct sunlight from fading the colors.
Do not tumble dry Jaipuri cotton handblock skirts, as the heat can shrink the fabric and damage the print.
Ironing:

If needed, iron the skirt on a low to medium heat setting.
Iron on the reverse side of the fabric to protect the handblock print.
Place a clean cloth or a pressing cloth over the skirt to prevent direct contact with the iron.
Storage:

Store the skirt in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
To prevent creases and wrinkles, fold the skirt along the seams rather than hanging it.
If storing for an extended period, consider using a garment bag to protect the fabric from dust and insects.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can fade the colors and damage the fabric.
Opt for gentle, natural detergents that are kind to both the fabric and the environment.
