Description

A saree that carries stories — not just style.

This exquisite Ajrakh saree, hand-block printed on dola silk, brings together the poetry of ancient motifs and the shimmer of modern elegance. The gold zari work on the pallu and border adds a regal finish, creating a timeless piece that feels at once traditional and contemporary.

Adorned with kairi (paisley) motifs — known as ambi in India — this design symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and the eternal cycle of life. The curved teardrop form, inspired by the mango, is a tribute to India’s abundance and creative spirit — an ancient motif that has journeyed across civilizations yet remained rooted in Indian aesthetics.

Complementing the kairi are majestic haathi (elephant) motifs woven in zari — emblems of wisdom, strength, and royal dignity. In Indian culture, the elephant represents Lord Ganesha , a bearer of good fortune and god beginnings. Together, these motifs make this saree a tapestry of auspicious energy and timeless artistry.

Crafted in silk, Dola Silk is a beautifully blended fabric that combines the shine of silk with the comfort of cotton.

Smooth and lustrous on the outside, soft and breathable on the inside — it’s loved for its effortless drape and graceful fall.

Made from a mix of silk and viscose, Dola Silk offers the elegance of traditional silk without the high maintenance. It holds color and zari work beautifully, making it perfect for festive and artisanal sarees like Ajrakh.

✨ Why You’ll Love It:

  • Shines like silk, feels like soft cotton
  • Lightweight and easy to drape
  • Ideal for intricate block prints and zari borders
  • Durable and easy to care for

A perfect fusion of luxury, comfort, and practicality, Dola Silk brings timeless Indian artistry into your modern, sustainable wardrobe.

Each pattern is hand-blocked by Kutch artisans, using centuries-old Ajrakh techniques — a slow, meditative process that involves up to 16 stages of resist and dye printing with natural, vegetable-based colors madder for Red, and iron rust for black. The result: a fabric that feels alive, with every block bearing the touch of the maker’s hand.

✨ Highlights:

  • Dola silk with natural vegetable dyes
  • Technique: Hand-block Ajrakh from Kutch
  • Motifs: Kairi (Paisley) & Haathi (Elephant)
  • Border & Pallu: Intricate zari weave detailing
  • Drape: Fluid, lustrous, and breathable
  • Ethically handmade by Indian artisans

Each saree is a wearable heirloom — a celebration of India’s design genius and sustainable artistry. Whether you drape it for festive gatherings or intimate evenings, this Ajrakh creation wraps you in stories that began centuries ago, yet remain beautifully relevant today.

Care Instructions

To ensure your handblocked cotton Chanderi saree remains in pristine condition for years to come, it's important to follow these care instructions:

Dry Cleaning:

The safest and often recommended method to clean Chanderi sarees, especially those with intricate handblock prints, is dry cleaning.
Professional dry cleaners are equipped to handle delicate fabrics and ensure that the saree is cleaned without risking damage to the fabric or the prints.
Hand Washing Method:

If you prefer to hand wash your saree at home, follow these steps:
Fill a clean basin or tub with cold water.
Add a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics. You can also use a gentle shampoo.
Immerse the saree in the water and gently swish it around to ensure the detergent is evenly distributed.
Let the saree soak for 15-20 minutes to loosen dirt and stains.
Gently rub any soiled areas with your fingertips, taking care not to scrub too vigorously, especially around the handblocked prints.
Rinse the saree thoroughly with cold water until all soap is removed.
Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, as this can damage the delicate fibers and prints.
Press the excess water out of the saree gently by squeezing it. You may need to repeat this step with fresh water to ensure all detergent is removed.
Drying:

Lay the saree flat on a clean, dry towel. Avoid hanging, as this can cause the fabric to stretch.
Roll the towel and saree together to gently absorb excess water.
Unroll the saree and lay it flat on another dry towel in a shaded area to air dry.
Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause colors to fade.
Reshape the saree while it is damp, especially the borders and pallu, to maintain its original form.
If you must hang the saree to dry, use a padded hanger to prevent stretching.
Ironing:

Iron the saree on a low to medium heat setting while it is still slightly damp.
Place a clean, dry cloth over the saree before ironing to protect the handblocked prints.
Iron on the reverse side of the saree to further protect the prints.
Pay extra attention to the borders and pleats, ensuring they are straight and crisp.
Storage:

Store the saree in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Fold the saree neatly along the handblocked prints to prevent creasing.
Avoid hanging the saree for long periods, as this can cause stretching.
Use muslin or cotton cloth bags to store the saree, allowing it to breathe and protecting it from dust and insects.
Following these care instructions will help maintain the beauty, colors, and intricate handblock prints of your Chanderi cotton saree, ensuring it remains a cherished piece in your wardrobe for years to come.
