The Heritage of Ajrakh

The striking pallu of this saree showcases authentic Ajrakh block printing, a time-honored textile craft rooted in the Kutch and Sindh regions. The intricate geometric and floral motifs are achieved through a labor-intensive, multi-step resist-printing process. True to heritage practices, the vibrant colors are derived entirely from natural botanical dyes, utilizing madder root for the deep reds and natural indigo for the rich blues, creating a piece of wearable history that is kind to the earth.

Material Focus: What is Modal?

In our commitment to radical transparency regarding manufacturing and fibers, it is important to understand the canvas of this garment.

Modal is a bio-based, semi-synthetic cellulosic fiber. It is created by spinning reconstituted wood pulp, most commonly harvested from beech trees.

 Why we use it: Unlike petroleum-based synthetics (such as polyester, nylon, or acrylic) that shed harmful microplastics into our ecosystems, modal is derived from natural plant materials and is biodegradable.

 The functional benefit: Pure modal possesses an exceptionally soft, silk-like drape. This structural fluidity is what allows the fabric to be gathered, pleated, and layered over heavy winter clothing seamlessly. Furthermore, modal fibers are highly absorbent, meaning they take up the natural botanical dyes of the Ajrakh process brilliantly, resulting in deep, colorfast hues that traditional cotton sometimes struggles to hold.

Care Instructions

Finishing Your Saree: As is natural with authentic textiles, the raw ends may gently fray. To preserve the longevity of your saree, we recommend securing the edges with simple hand-stitched hem or a quick sewing machine stitch.


Strictly Dry Clean Only
To preserve the structural integrity of the pure modal and the vibrancy of the natural dyes, this saree is Strictly Dry Clean Only.
Why Dry Clean? Pure modal is a beautifully fluid fiber, but it becomes heavy and delicate when wet. Hand-washing runs the risk of stretching or warping the weave.
Protecting the Art: The authentic Ajrakh pallu is created using traditional, multi-step natural botanical dyes (including madder root and indigo). These heritage dyes are prone to bleeding when exposed to water. Professional dry cleaning ensures the colors remain crisp and prevents the deep tones of the pallu from bleeding into the rest of the garment.
Storage: Store folded in a breathable cotton bag away from direct sunlight. Do not hang this saree on a hanger for prolonged periods, as the weight of the pure modal can stretch the fabric over time.
