This ensemble celebrates the rich heritage of Indian textile traditions. The kurti and pae-jamah are crafted from breathable hand-brushed cotton, providing a textured, organic feel against the skin. The striking borders and the accompanying dupatta showcase the timeless art of Ajrakh handblock printing, a complex, multi-stage process utilizing natural dyes to create deep, mesmerizing geometric and floral patterns. The dupatta is crafted from pure modal, a 100% plant-based cellulose fabric that contains no silk fibers, offering an incredibly soft touch and a beautifully fluid drape.

Hand-brushed cotton is a woven cotton fabric that has been treated to create a soft, slightly fuzzy texture on its surface. While standard brushed cotton is common, the "hand-brushed" designation specifically highlights an artisanal finishing process.

Here is a breakdown of how it is made and its key characteristics:

The Brushing Process

After the cotton fabric is woven, it undergoes a finishing technique where fine, closely spaced metal brushes (or traditionally, natural teasels) are rubbed over the surface of the cloth.

 The "Hand" Element: In artisanal and handloom textile production, this brushing is done manually or using small-scale, manually operated tools rather than large industrial machines.

 Raising the Nap: The brushing gently lifts the top fibers of the cotton yarns out of the weave, creating a fine, velvety fuzz known as a "nap."

Key Characteristics

 Exceptional Softness: The raised fibers give the fabric a smooth, "peach-skin" or sueded feel that is incredibly gentle against the skin, making it more comfortable than standard, unbrushed cotton.

 Enhanced Warmth: The raised nap creates tiny air pockets across the surface of the fabric. These pockets trap body heat, making brushed cotton warmer and cozier—ideal for transitional weather or cooler climates.

 Breathability: Because it is still 100% natural cotton, it retains the fiber's inherent breathability and moisture-wicking properties, ensuring the wearer stays warm without overheating.

 Matte Appearance: The brushing process diffuses light, giving the fabric a distinctively rich, matte finish rather than a crisp or shiny one.


Care Instructions

To maintain the vibrancy of the natural dyes and the integrity of the handloom fabrics, please follow these care instructions:

Washing: Gently hand-wash in cold water using a mild detergent. Do not soak.

Drying: Dry in the shade to prevent the natural colors from fading.

Storage: Store the garments in a breathable cotton cover alongside silica gel packets to protect against moisture.

Usage: Avoid spraying perfumes or applying harsh chemicals directly onto the fabric.
