Description

A Dialogue Between Two Traditions

True craft is never one-sided. Our Reversible handblock cotton Choli features two distinct hand-blocked narratives in one garment. By flipping the top, you transition between different regional motifs and color stories, allowing the wearer to carry two expressions of Indian heritage in a single piece. The unstitched-inspired tie-up system honors traditional garment construction, allowing the fabric to drape and secure according to the body's natural form rather than rigid industrial sizing.

Honoring the Soil: Natural Dyes & Recycled Cotton

In an era of synthetic mass-production, these cholis are an ode to the earth. We use recycled cotton as our canvas, reducing the environmental footprint while giving new life to high-quality fibers. Each motif is pressed by hand using carved wooden blocks, colored only with natural dyes—extracted from roots, petals, and minerals. The result is a depth of color that breathes with you and ages gracefully, free from the harsh chemicals of modern fast fashion.

Architectural Comfort

We believe sustainability should never sacrifice ease. This choli is thoughtfully padded, providing a structured, confident silhouette without the need for additional layers. The V-neckline and open-back design are rooted in the classic Indian angarkha and choli aesthetics, reimagined as a versatile halter that pairs as beautifully with a handloom saree as it does with high-waisted trousers or a tiered skirt.

The Beauty of the Unique

Because these are born from recycled textiles, no two pieces in the Dobaara collection are identical. Your garment is the only one of its kind in the world—a rare fragment of history, repurposed for a conscious future.

Care Instructions

Caring for Your Heritage Textiles
Our garments are crafted using recycled cotton, indigenous hand-block printing, and natural botanical dyes. Unlike industrial clothing, these pieces are "living" textiles that breathe and evolve. To preserve the vibrancy of the earth-derived pigments and the integrity of the artisanal fabric, please follow these care guidelines:
1. The Wash
• Hand Wash Separately: Always hand wash in cold water. Natural dyes may "bleed" slightly during the first few cycles; this is a hallmark of authentic botanical processes and will stabilize over time.
• pH-Neutral Detergent: Use only mild, liquid, eco-friendly, or pH-neutral detergents. Industrial powders and bleaches are too alkaline and will strip the natural colors from the fibers.
• Do Not Soak: Avoid leaving the garment submerged for long periods to protect the strength of the recycled cotton fibers.
2. The Drying Process
• Shade Dry Only: Direct sunlight acts as a natural bleach on botanical dyes. To prevent fading, turn the garment inside out and air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
• Avoid the Tumble Dryer: High heat and friction from machines can damage the hand-blocked motifs and cause unnecessary wear to the recycled fabric.
3. Pressing & Storage
• Warm Iron: Iron on a medium-to-low setting while the garment is still slightly damp for the best results.
• Breathable Storage: Store your choli in a cool, dry place. We recommend using a breathable cotton bag rather than plastic to allow the natural fibers to remain aerated.
