In Sanskrit, Sutra means a thread, a line, or a sacred aphorism that holds a deeper truth. The Sutra Kanchuka is a breathtaking, architectural homage to the straight, vertical presence of the human form. A modern adaptation of the Indian kurti in a modular form! This long, straight-cut upper wrap serves as a dignified, protective layer—a true inspiration drawn from Kanchuka.

It honors your physical frame (Annamaya Kosha) by providing a calm, steady stability that doesn't demand attention through volume, but through absolute presence. Engineered with our signature adaptive wrap philosophy, it accommodates and flows with your body's natural changes without ever binding it.

The Craft: The Vedic Science of Bandhani

This vastra is not merely dyed; it is sculpted by human hands. The ancient art of Bandhani derives from the Sanskrit word Bandha (to tie). It is a sacred, meditative resist-dyeing technique where artisans pluck thousands of microscopic points of cloth with their fingernails, binding each tightly with continuous thread before the fabric is bathed in dye.

When the ties are opened, the iconic bindu (dots) are revealed—representing the infinite focal points of cosmic energy. The resulting textured crinkle is pure woven prana, carrying the literal touch and rhythmic energy of the artisan into the Annamaya Kosha (your physical layer).

Fabric Composition: Pure cotton (60x60)

Care Instructions

To preserve the vivid yarn-dyed colors and the structural integrity of the natural cotton, please observe the following rituals:

Hand Wash or Gentle Machine Cycle: Wash in cold water with mild, natural detergents.

Wash Separately: Vibrant yarn-dyed fabrics may naturally release excess color during the first few washes.

Dry in Shade: Protect the rich geometric hues by air-drying away from direct, harsh sunlight.

We believe in absolute transparency. Every piece in the Kosha Vasas collection is a bespoke design, moving away from industrialized sizing to embrace zero-waste architecture and adaptive closures using the traditional dori and naara.

What’s built into the retail price:

  • The Textiles: Direct compensation to the artisan clusters for authentic, hand-loomed fabrics. We bypass middlemen to ensure the master weavers and dyers are paid fairly and directly wherever possible.
  • The Tailoring: Fair wages paid to the tailors and makers who bring these intricate, zero-waste silhouettes to life.
  • Importation: International freight from India to our studio, alongside all customs and import duties.
  • Operations: Secure payment gateway fees, packaging, handling and platform maintenance.
  • Sustenance & Design: A 35% margin that sustains the business, supports the historical research behind these indigenous tying systems, and compensates for the bespoke design process.
