Machilipatnam-Inspired Floral Jaal Dupatta (Cotton-Silk)

The Story

At the heart of ethical curation is absolute clarity about how a textile is made. This vibrant dupatta pays beautiful homage to the traditional Machilipatnam Kalamkari aesthetic, featuring a sweeping, continuous floral jaal (net or web) and classic paisley border motifs.

While it mimics the visual language of traditional block printing, this piece is a meticulously executed commercial screen print. This mechanized process allows for the crisp registration of the vibrant pinks, blues, and yellows within the uniform black iron-acetate-style outlines, offering a bright, pristine surface color set against a bright white background.

The Fabric

Woven in a classic "Sico" (Cotton-Silk) blend, this dupatta offers the best of both fibers. The structure typically utilizes a silk warp to provide tensile strength and a subtle, continuous luster, crossed with a breathable cotton weft for body and structure. The result is a crisp, lightweight drape that holds its shape beautifully. The edges are finished with smooth, hand-twisted tassels that highlight the silk content in the weave.

 Before your product is shipped off, you are welcome to make alterations to your order as you see fit.
